The power of lust

Men are always at war. I stalked Hrothgar's men and ended up at Hygmod's door. I watched the scene unravel. Once Hygmod saw Hrothgar's army, he "drew out his sword, with his left hand-a sign of truce-and dropped it" (98). He began offering gifts for forgiveness and for once, Hrothgar wasn't an idiot and declined. No matter how much gold, Hrothgar would not take it. However, once Hygmod brought out his sister, all bets were off. I would say this is a pathetic act of humans, but the sight of this woman brought me to tears. This woman was the new Jesus. She was sold off to stop the war as Jesus was killed for our sins. I wanted her, but couldn't have her. I'm a monster, she's a human.

Just like the video, men fight for no reason at all. It's just a contest to see who's the most masculine and strong. Once a women comes in though, there can be peace. She lifts all the sins that were about to be committed. Maybe women are our saviors? Maybe not cause I later decided to attack her. In the end, it proved to be pointless. Whether she died or not, didn't matter. No one even fought for her! Hypocritical men will be the end of us.

  1. I like the voice you used with Grendel; you made him very angsty and recounted his telling of Hrothgar's kingdom's coming in a way that shows both your and Grendel's understanding of the story. The video was a good choice for this chapter and Grendel's feelings on the way men act. It showcases the way Grendel sees how Wealtheow came about and fixed everyone's problems. It retells how this character brought peace to the war-torn land in a very fitting way.

  2. The analysis you display on this chapter is great! I really get a complex sense of the emotions and thoughts Grendel experienced in this section of the book. I also enjoyed your choice of media here. The video of the men fighting actually surprised me and I loved it! Even the simple image you selected conveys exactly how Wealtheow works within the kingdom. I agree with everything said and I feel this is an extremely developed post. Well done!

  3. Very nice work on the blog. The analysis you have written is detailed and has the concept of forgiveness, which is exactly what I am looking for in the philosophy of the New Testament Theology. Your quotes are very nice! Nice job on the works cited, however I would add a bit more of a touch on forgiveness and the welfare of others. Also, the only trouble I had was finding which of your blog posts correlated to which chapter. I would either add at the bottom or in the title the chapter that your post goes with to ensure no one gets lost. Overall, I really enjoyed reading it!
